The Seven Salads of Marion, Ohio

Mandatory Salads

Each Marion, Ohio (my recognized hometown) potluck, covered dish supper, church meal, fund raiser, after funeral meal or card club party must all of these basic salads:

Potato Salad

Macoroni Salad

Waldorf Salad

Green Jell-O Salad with celery, shaved carrots & marshmallows

Bean Salad

Egg Salad

And Cole Slaw

Optional Choices
You may have no more than two optional choices. You may have one. But no more than two, period:

Watergate Salad

Chicken Salad

Baked beans.

Hold on their Hoss.  Baked beans are not a salad; they are a covered dish.  Nice try Bubb.

  1. what about pee, i mean pea salad? that has an ohio ring to it, no?

  2. Norma dear - at a potluck one never brings a "green salad" unless its made with Jell-O. Go back and review, again.

  3. I adore macaroni salad. Were I there, I would sneak off into a corner with the whole pyrex bowl of it and a big spoon and have myself a REAL party.

  4. With me, its the Watergate Salad. Or the "Pink Junk" (Cherry Jell-O, Cool Whip and marshmallows) it sounds yucky but its pure comfort food. Sometimes, I disgust myself.
