Must. Disagree. Being a former New Englander and having grown up eating Howard Johnson't "Frankforts", I can attest to the superiority of the New England hot dog roll; they are generally buttered and grilled on both sides, something you can't do with a standard hot dog bun.
Madness, I tell you. Madness! Of course, I also categorically refuse to eat hot dogs made from beef. If you want to get really crazy, people in Brittany eat what's called Galette saucisse: http://breken-korst.blogspot.fr/2010/11/galette-saucisse-hot-dog-breton.html
I keep looking at it, trying to figure out where the hotdog goes.
ReplyDeleteIt's kind of like a really bad date.
A hot dog in a "roll". It makes one feel unclean.

ReplyDeleteVeg-o-matic is right. The only acceptable lobster or clam roll comes on a New England roll, buttered and grilled golden brown!
ReplyDeleteI once ordered a clam roll in NYC and it was served on a hamburger bun -- sacrilege!
