Well, no one comes off well being compared to Marilyn Monroe but Mamie was lovable in her own right. She was the queen of el cheap-o drive-in juvenile delinquent films in the 50s!
And whatever she's done, it's stil working for her - she's alive, well, and if her beguiling blog is any clue, a helluva lot of fun still. Sometimes it pays to be an also-ran.
Mamie also cut some blistering, vicious (and very kitsch!) rock'n'roll records in the 1950s (sometimes featuring the great Eddie Cochran on guitar). I always play something by her when I DJ.
They're both taller than me.
