What's this about a Zuzz-Zuzz Water Softener? |
The key is ours, and work on Castle Cookie is underway.
We have cleaned the kitchen, which took four days. And yes, it was that bad. New appliances are on their way.
As I type, the gutters are being cleaned out, and the floors are being sanded and brought back to life. \
More as we move forward. But mentally and physically, it's exhausting work.
Congratulations!!
ReplyDeleteIs it nice to put you stamp on a new home? Many good memories to come. Don't forget to get your leaf blower and blow out the dryer duct. Don't want the place to burn down before you settle in.
We will all wait for the Spring BBQ Open House invite.
The dryer vent hose was the one thing we need not worry about. The prior tenants took their dust mites with them. We have a new one ready to go. We do need to get the bathroom fan duct blown out, because I am sure that was never cleaned out.
DeleteNow the fun begins! If I was you I would just hire cute house boys and help, sit back , and have a G&T and watch the magic on fold!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on getting started. Can you tell us the era the house was built, so we can imagine it better and gauge how much restoration versus regular clean-up there is?

Arts and crafts on the outside, and transitional on the inside. Luckily, no one painted the interior trim on the inside on the first floor, no one ripped out the hardwood and laid down gray vinyl planking. But when I say these folks did not leave a clean house, I mean it.
DeleteWell!! There is straight clean and then there is gay clean. I fall into the latter camp. No matter where I lived I cleaned the house top to bottom before I lay my head down for the first night. Also, I was raised by my Japanese stepmother and she taught us how to clean. Example one has to get into the tub to clean it properly. Well, I am 6/2 so I don't have to anymore. For me, if it is supposed to shine I want it to shine. I have ceramic tile in my condo and only the living room and bedroom has carpet. Today was get out the super cleaner solution, stiff brush, and clean the hell out of the tile time. I do that about twice a year and the rest of the year it is sweeping and mopping.
DeletePS-I was thinking of the bathroom exhaust as well when I sent my first response. I know you have all your bases covered.
Hello VR Cooper, Well, it was another gay person, Quentin Crisp, who said that after a few years the dust does not get any deeper. But anytime you are feeling extra-energetic, please feel free to come over to my place. --Jim
DeleteI can't wait for the house-warming party! Cheers - and well done! Jx
ReplyDeletePS I hate going into a place and finding we have to deep clean before we can settle...
So do I. I mean we'll leave the current house "broom clean", but even then we're not leaving a mess. The bathrooms will be clean, the kitchen will be clean, the woodwork will be clean, and any paint that needs to be touched up will be clean. But I draw the line at installing brand new toilet seats. Nope, not going to do that.
DeleteThe bog seat's the very first thing I replace the moment we move into a new place. That, and any cord-pull light switches. Jx
DeleteI have driven the point home to the new owners that we spent a lot of money outfitting this house with three, wonderfully efficient and clog free Gerber toilets, each an "Avalanche" model (they don't clog) and that each was about $400 retail. Destroy these toilets, and I will haunt you. (But good luck getting the seat off the one in the powder room - it alomst took an engineering degree to get it on.)
