Brave new world my ass.
Google, a company that cares not a wit about common sense has decided to completely overhaul and reformat the Blogger interface.
In cleaning it up, they have removed words and now only provide symbols. They have hidden tools and common sense things behind pict-o-graphs.
If Cookie can't find time before the end of June, this could be the end. Not that I want it to end, but they certainly didn't do this to make it easier to create posts, share videos, etc.
Evidently old fuckers like me who still use desktops aren't Google's priority.
We'll try and make the leap, but it if proves too frustrating, I may be forced to give up the ghost.

I have noticed the "new Blogger" is going to be forced upon us - and you're right, it doesn't exactly look very user-friendly. I'm going to need to investigate it properly, however, before I know whether it will work for me or not. I'd very very, very reluctant to make any rash moves such as moving to Wordpress or similar, as before you know it, they'll be changing their own interface for the mobile-phone-dependent generation as well... Jx
ReplyDeleteI really don't like to use my phone for leisurely browsing of blogs I follow...I like to use my laptop...Sometimes a bigger landscape is optimal viewing pleasure. Yes, I will in a pinch browse sites on my phone. But if I am at home, it's the laptop. I am also one of those who will not do any commerce on my phone. I am old school. I have no issues with new technology. I say if I have to use it, I will master it. Oh yes, I don't wear glasses to read but have you tried to read some Instagram users font on your IPhone. Ouch!!
ReplyDeleteIt is different that's for sure. I think I must still be using the "classic" version. I'm going to roll with this because I'm starting to HATE facebook! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI will be right behind you Cookie. From what I hear the blog will look the same, but the dashboard is all different and the adding of pictures and video is gonna be way more complicated I'm hearing, and the location of things on the dashboards is very hard to find. I already have a hut set up at WordPress, but I found that very hard to use too...so this might be the last dance.
ReplyDeleteIllegitimati non carborundum. Don't let the bastards grind you down...
DeleteIt may take a few goes to work it out to our satisfaction, but we won't let something as silly as a few buttons rather than menus prevent us from producing our streams of consciousness, surely..? Jx
I have seen that "try New Blogger" button with dread, and you have confirmed my worst fears. When I started blogging I opened accounts with both Blogger and Wordpress, and Wordpress was very non-user-friendly. To tell you the truth, the current Blogger has a lot of peculiarities, but somehow I doubt they have fixed those, just made the whole system harder to use. One terrible thing about Wordpress is its entire commenting system, which is the pits, so I will try to stick with blogger as long as I possibly can.
ReplyDeleteAlso, perhaps if enough people complain, they will bring back the old Blogger, kind of like Classic Coke.

For now, you can revert to the old format. That is what I did. I do not like the new interface either.
ReplyDeleteYou won't be the only one, I have heard they're already considering keeping the Option Open not to switch over because they're receiving backlash. It's not User Friendly and many of us will abort and bail from Blogger.
ReplyDeletenope, gimme old reliable. I am understanding switching to "new blogger" is going to be optional.
ReplyDeleteDon't give up, Cookie! (says he who had a look at the new "interface" and balked immediately) As Jon said, we'll get used to it (I hope...)
ReplyDeleteI was most unhappy with their move. I'm still learning their ways, but they didn't make things easier or intuitive. But I'm getting there.
ReplyDeleteI agree with all of everyone above. However, don't give up hope. I've slowly been learning the new and "improved" interface and have been able to keep blogging. Not without a few "f*ck this" now and then.
