A big old mess of updates

Our recently installed spaceship light over the kitchen island

What has Cookie been up to...well, let's see...

HOME, HOME ON THE RANGE?  Not quite yet.  Tomorrow, we get the plumber's estimate tomorrow to bring a gas line into the kitchen for the new range.  And it's going to be astounding.  But you know, when you are dealing with something that could blow your house from Kingdom come, you really don't want to cut corners.   After we have that scheduled, THEN we buy the range.

ON THE MOTHER IN LAW FRONT: Latest news is that Mom has an healthy appetite and is eating well.  That's the good news.  The bad news is that we are on needles and pins with regard to her family.  We are trying a different direction to contacting the next family group.  Fingers crossed.  We aren't looking forward to a an Earl Hamner homecoming, we'd just like to to talk with some of these cousins.

ON THE EMPLOYMENT FRONT: Looks like I may be going back to work at the Beef House / Strip Club.  The manager that I worked for is now the former manager.  And like all of the munchkins coming out after Dorothy rid Oz of the Wicked Witch of the East, some of my coworkers are planning on reapplying.

LIGHTS!  WE HAVE LIGHTS!  On the homefront since we have sold Tudor Cottage, we now have money to take down the old ugly lights that cam with the new house and put up some vintage lights that we bought and set aside for such a time when we could afford to get them rewired and installed.  Well they are up and they are SPECTACULAR!

And of course we cannot leave you without a gratuitous Star Wars mention.

Of course, this was back when Luke Skywalker was going through his Toni Tennille phase...

Do they even have Corn Flakes on Tatooine?  Or corn for that matter?

  1. I sincerely hope the first thing you cook on the new range willby "Skywalker Scrunchies"... Jx

    1. It was FIFTEEN DOLLARS at a junk shop. I nearly destroyed the store getting to it. It's an Imperialite. I looked it up on ebay and just about shit my pants when I saw what people are asking for it.

  3. Living in a small town, when we had a gas line run from the street to our home, and a gas meter installed, it was free from the gas company.
We just had to pay a plumber to run the line from the meter to the new stove.
    Small towns have their perks.

    PS I'm loving the lamp!

  4. I also love your spaceship light fixture-- so cool!

  5. Anything else going on? How appropriate with what you pack you work for a place called Beef House/Strip Club........

  6. Aunt Beru burned those cookies to a crisp!

    1. On the shelf? This BIG Glass apothocary Jar is from my great grandmother's cousin's pharmacy that he ran from the 1880s to the 1930s. The McCoy, Zanesville Pottery and Weller. The Rookwood, VanBriggle and highline Weller, early Hager and Newcomb College, and the Kroywen and Monterrey Jade are in the fancy rooms. Love me my pottery!

  8. Your light fixture reminds me of the Jupiter II from Lost In Space. I've been eyeing an art deco milk glass light shade that's hanging in an antique shop in Easton PA. But, if I buy it, then I'll have to figure out how the hell to get to the ceiling above the stairway to the 2nd floor to hang it since I don't have one of those fancy schmancy ladders that bends to accommodate steps. That won't stop me from buying it and calling in our electric guy to hang it. No wonder I'm always cash strapped. The hallway is lined with my FDR memorabilia collection so I think it will look cool.

    1. To install it, call an electrician. If you use a LED bulb you shouldnt have to replace it for years.
