And now I know someone who has died of COVID

Until this point in the pandemic, I considered my friends lucky in that none of the people in my orbit that I knew had fallen victim to COVID-19.

That streak ended today when a friend from high school - a super guy - a year younger than I died back home.

I had known people who had lost people that they knew, but this was the first person that I interacted with for a period of time with.  The last time I saw him was at his place of business while I was doing a compliance visit.  That was about 14 years ago, but if I saw him back home, we'd know each other and catch up.

This sucks, on so many levels.

I don't need to tell y'all that it does - we're all in the same boat together.

My husband likes to joke that life with me is seven degrees of Cookie.  I am always running into people that I know in some way or another.

This is one of those times when I wish that it hadn't touched the life of a schoolmate.

Wear your mask, stay home, only go out when you have to.

Stay safe,

Cookie

  1. my condolences on the loss of your friend, cookie. I hope his memories live with you.

I don't know of anyone who has COVID. my spouse tested positive back in august, but was asymptomatic; nothing happened to him. with the way it's spreading among the maskholes (otherwise knows as MAGAts), I might know someone sooner or later.

  3. My condolences to you also Cookie. My partner's uncle was cautious and followed the guidelines then after having one lunch with friends got infected. His decline was quick and passed last month. There will be more and it grows ever closer.

  4. Sorry for the loss. How sad. I just learned yesterday that the son of one of my father's sister's died of Covid in South Dakota. That state! That Governor. So sad. So far, my tight little circle is still fine. Wear a mask!

  5. I'm so sorry you lost a Friend to COVID, Cookie, my condolences. I now know many people who've contracted it, most have recovered or are attempting to, a few have Died. Many people I know have lost extended Family to it already. We have immediate Family that have contracted it... it is scary stuff.
