It's a happy, happy day for this soldier, and for us all.

As an American, and as a gay man, I cannot express how happy I am to see Don't Ask Don't Tell - a law that is based on ignorance, bias and discrimination - cease to exist.  But that happiness pales to the joy that I experienced at watching this service man be able to come out to his family, military and himself and find acceptance.

I have a bit more hope for our nation to today - I am seeing something that I never expected to see in my lifetime, and that is a breathtaking moment for anyone who has experienced such a point in time.

  1. I'm crying watching this. I wish my "coming out" to my family had been as positive as this young mans... Times they are a changing!

    Thanks for posting this Cookie....

  2. I'm really excited for this guy. Looking through his video's he just seems young and upbeat. And he's cute as can be. He'll have a line of young men (and older men) hoping to meet up with him, and that makes me happy as well.

  3. Yeah, the thing that got me choked up, is to see someone record and share a moment that for me I avoided like the plague, and wanted to keep private or make go away.
I hope it gives perspective to those whose parents are not so strong.
