A warning...

I found this over on Cubby's Blog and fell in love with it, because its so true.

The happiest aspect about myself in this past year of change has been learning to embrace my inner introvert self.

While I can be loud, brash and quick with a quip, I get exhausted thinking about dealing with large groups of people and upcoming events and trips.  Once I'm underway, I'm fine.  But after its over, I need my "me" time to be quiet and be "Cookielike"

So after years of wanting myself to be an extrovert, I am happiest being my introverted self.

  1. Fantastic!! I would love to print this on a T-shirt. But I am too introverted to wear clothing with words.

  2. I have a cousin, who I will call Zelda. Zelda is a kind woman who is an extrovert. But Zelda is all about big, over sized gestures and theatrics, whereas, I am the opposite.

Zelda used to join us for my birthday dinner at this one Mexican hole in wall, but she would get there a head time and tell them to bring out the BIG sombrero and sing me happy birthday, which I hated more than words. It made feel about an inch tall an d I wanted to curl up and die.

It has finally gotten to the point where we've had to cut Zelda out of our lives because instead of respecting this aspect of us (the husband is an introvert too), she started getting angry with me and started calling me a control freak.

  5. A book was published earlier this year entitled, "QUIET: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking" by Susan Cain.

    It's on my to-read list.

    1. Bless you Debbie.

The one definitions of an introvert is someone who is exhausted by being in large groups of unfamiliar people. I can do that, but I dread it going into it and afterward, I just want to be in my familiar state. I've conducted education sessions and training sessions in front of huge numbers of people, but if given the chance to go out with a large group of people, or stay home and watch TV, I'll take the TV. Better yet, dinner with friends.

An extrovert is someone who is energized by being with people - someone who sees the world as a stage.
