WTH? Chipnics

OK.  I was born in the early 1960s, in Shaker Heights, Ohio.  Ground zero for junk food back then, because it was thought of as a luxury, and my people had the money to spend on "wonder foods" and advances in food sciences.

So it cam e as a surprise that "Chipnics" ever existed.   How could I have miised this?  We had Bugles to much and Choc-o-la to drink,  But never a Chipnic was found in our house.  And it was a Sealtest product?  Sealtest was a dairy company.  We drank Sealtest milk for crying out loud!

Upon finding this discovery, I feel cheated.  Terribly cheated, at that.

Has anyone ever heard of Petrogallen?  Would love to find out something about that...

  5. I found a web site with the above picture and an explaination that Chipnics were huge sellers for a number years before being over taken by Pringles. But for the life of me, I don't remember them.

  6. I never heard of them either Stu. Born in '59 I spent most of the 60's in NJ and upstate NY (definitely Sealtest country). I do remember when Pringles launched and the seemed like something totally new.

Chipnicks - sounds like a Hebrew word for a little crunchy snacky thing.

WV - Sparoi. The French Royal Sparrow.

  7. I was born in '55 and I remember Chipnics here in the Detroit area. I had just asked my wife if she remembered them. She said no. I described the box to her. Still no. I did a quick Google search and arrived here. I don't believe I've seen that Chipnics box since the mid '60's.
